Language - a role reversal

I have talked about how learning the French language in France is one of the most challenging things I've had to face.  But today I realized how it works "the other way".  For some people, I am the only truly native English speaker they talk to.  And as such, they look to me for the correct English grammar!   The horrors!

It has made me very conscious of all the "slang" I use, or the verbal shortcuts, that would not be any problem with another English speaker, but for a non-native speaker, watch out.

The result?  A small microcosm in France of people that all speak like me!

For fun, here's Things we say wrong.
